Travel Insurance

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Travel Insurance is without doubt the most important investment that you can make after booking your Overseas Travel itinerary.   There are many perils that can turn a perfect holiday, or a successful business trip into a nightmare.   However, this does not have to be the case if a suitable Travel Insurance policy is taken out prior to your departure.

Travel Insurance can cover such things as lost, or stolen personal items, medical cover in the event of sickness or accident, or unforeseen Travel disruptions with Airlines or ground transport that prevent you from arriving at planned destinations on time.   The latter can also lead to unscheduled cancellations of prepaid Hotel reservations, and many of these Hotels enforce a no refund policy for “no show” customers.  Whilst circumstances that cause Travel cancellations are generally completely out of your control, many Hotels stand strictly by their cancellation policies and this is where Travel Insurance will cover any financial losses.

Imagine being injured, or becoming ill whilst in a foreign Country.  In some places that can be an expensive exercise, and without Travel Insurance, the holiday or business trip would become even worse.  Would it not be better to invest in Travel Insurance, and have the peace of mind, that in the event of something adverse happening during your Overseas Travel Excursion, you would be fully compensated for any unforeseen outlays?

Travel Insurance can be considered a little like your own home and contents Insurance, because whilst no one is expecting their house to be destroyed, or the contents to be lost or stolen, there is always that security and peace of mind knowing that if something unfortunate did occur, then at least the greater financial investment is protected.
